LINER NOTES FROM SOMEWHERE UP SHIT CREEK - DECEMBER 12, 2009

I've always really liked playing and recording music and back in 2006 I decided
to record ten whole music albums in five years and I've pretty much kept to schedule,
having recorded six decent albums as of this past Spring 2009...blah blah blah

And I've just begun album seven, which is called "JESUS A GO-GO"
and I've finished most of the music tracks for it...but somewhere during
the recording I got a little twitchy and buggy and felt I needed to record
some other sort of vague music just to clear the decks and to disperse
some proverbial musical cobwebs. So, my friend Robert and I meet
every week to shoot the breeze and Robert likes music, especially
oldies of the 60s and 70s and I decided to ask him to make a list
of his top ten favorite songs - well, ten songs turned into a big
fifty-nine songs and so throughout the month of November
off and on I recorded every single song on my friend
Robert's list. I like most of the songs on his list,
however I don't like a lot of them and some
I'm not familiar with at all and almost hate.

Since there are fifty-nine (59) songs on Robert's big song list
and since I didn't want to spend months recording the songs
I decided to do everything in one take. Most of the tracks have
between four and seven separate multi-tracks, featuring
nice guitars, tambourine, electronic keyboard, pen tapping,
the sound of fists thumping desks, the rattle of book shelves
and other heavily over-delayed and reverbed instruments.

I tried to make the music as hard to decipher as possible
but I don't think I've actually succeeded. Melodies and lyrics
are still recognizable in many cases, even through loud
banging percussion and incessant twangs persist.

Also, I'm slightly disappointed in myself for not taking these particular
cover versions "further" - but after a month of hearing my own caterwauling
semi-attempts at non-music I had to give up and quit. The only editing done
was at the start and end of each pathetic track, where noise and count-ins
were deleted or where tracks were faded in or out . But who gives a fuck?

Let's kick it all off with a Bachman Turner Overdrive classic! - BENBENEK
