100 DISCARDED DRINKING CUPS




Since I'm very spunky and artistic, I get a lot of creative ideas...

Usually my creative ideas come by way of the spiritual vapor which
coats every active object in the ethereal hyper-plane and sometimes
I get my creative ideas from God (go figure...) and sometimes I even
get my ideas from the tiny, all-knowing chattering voices that
speak to me from my TV set...oh, and I also get really creative
ideas from the large giant that lives in the mystical hollow log that
sits in the sparkling field of magical crabgrass next door
where the angels and ladybugs always keep
a watchful eye and a pot on the fire
(in that order)

As you can see, creative ideas come from practically
any and everywhere...it pays to be ever watchful and to have
some loose change in your pocket and a willing attitude
and the desire to see things as they are and try to
keep all your introductions short and concise if
you ever write an introduction on a website
or anything resembling a website.

So, early this summer I got the creative idea to take pictures of
all the discarded drinking cups (mostly wax paper or plastic)
I stumble upon during my many refreshing walks around
Southern California and other great exciting places.

Since I walk around a lot, I've always noticed that
the sheer number of discarded drinking cups inevitably
increases as summer appears and as heat grows and as
careless hot and sweaty thirsty sweaty people start
drinking large sugary liquid drinks and begin throwing
their drink cups away on the very nice sidewalk
or by the wonderful side of the curb or in
the nice street or other vague places
that may or may not be nice.

So, yeah I had an idea to take photographs
of discarded drinking cups all summer long...

Cup, cup, cup...photo, photo, photo!


However, after I reached about my 100th
discarded drinking cup photo I sort of lost the
primordial urge to keep the project going all summer
and instead have just gone back to taking pictures
of other things...like majestic pine trees and artistic
cracks in the everyday common pavement
upon which we as citizens of America
have given our birthright to
walk upon in freedom
and much truth.
